Auschwitz Camp: Hell of Nazi Torture Part-2
Death was inevitable in the Auschwitz, so some inmates started to turn this disaster in an opportunity.
They used their skills to entertain the soldiers. One of them was "Salamo". He was boxer. Nazis were organizing such matches for their entertainment. Salamo won nearly 200 such boxing matches. And that was the reason he wasn't killed.
In that 40 square kilometer of area, almost many were killed in first 24 hours of their arrival. Auschwitz took lives of 1 million people on those five years.
Weak were killed in gas chamber, while strong were used for labor work. And it was for 11 hours a day. Many of them also died in labor work, if not in chamber. Labors were kept in barracks, where there was no light, water or toilet. They were feed three times a day- Coffee in the morning, Soup in lunch and 300 gram of bread in dinner. They work from 4 am to 5:30 pm. few of them wouldn't last for dinner, because they would die of heat, hunger, lack of medical treatment and water.
There was a luxurious car, which Rudolf used for travelling to Berlin. One day car left the camp for berlin and reached the gate. Soldiers saw some strange faces in the car but hesitated, because they were wearing uniforms. "Open the gate, or I'll kill you", voice came form inside. listening, this they opened the gate and let the car go. After it came to light that few prisoners have escaped and they also have Nazi uniforms and commander's car. Those prisoners were Rudolf, Kezimerze and their two friends. Search operation was initiated at once. But those were found nowhere. Born in 1919, that Kezimerze died in 2017 aged 98 years.
Second such try was done by Jean komski and his three friends. One of them wore the stolen uniform. and other three were walking with a Buggy. He showed some documents, and the gate keepers let them go thinking that he was taking them for luggage delivery. While counting at evening they found that four of them are missing. Unfortunately, not all but Jean was captured after 16 days.
In five years total of 928 prisoners tried to escape and 196 of them were successful.
Four decades passed after the end of World War II. It was a normal day of 1983. A maid of an old Jewish lady living in New York told her that she had seen a documentary about the Auschwitz camp and many people like her shared their stories. Old lady Sila got tears in her eyes. She herself was one of the prisoners in Auschwitz in 1944. The maid went ahed and spoke few names she had heard in the documentary.
listening to one specific name, Sila got excited. Asked the name again and all the details that person shared. She than got the number of that filmmaker and dialed another number in a small town of Poland. A deep voice came from the other side. It was Bielski.
Bielski and Sila, both were prisoners at Auschwitz. Opposite sex were not allowed meet. But somehow they met and fall in love. At a moment when they got chance, escaped the camp. They took refuge at bielski's uncle. Soldiers were always searching for such prisoners. So, they decided to separate from each other to reduce the possibility of getting captured. Both gave promise of meeting again and left for their ways.
War ended, Nazi power got wiped but they couldn't meet again. Sila was told that Bielski was killed. And after four long decades, in 1983 they found that both of them were alive. After calling, they met again at Auschwitz camp site, but Bielski was already married by then, so they couldn't become one. But still they were overjoys. A film in German language has also been made on their story-"Remembrance".
So, there were times when people lost their lives and also times where they got a new one in the infamous Auschwitz camp.
